If you’ve spent any time on Instagram over the last week, you’ve likely seen a ‘Instagram Top 9’ post from the friends, bloggers and celebrities you follow. Essentially, this breaks down your top 9 posts in terms of likes. The Instagram Top 9 creates a sleek grid-like image that you can share to all of your followers.

Contrary to what some may think, top 9 isn’t a native Instagram feature, but rather one that third-party developers have jumpstarted. So here’s how to get your Instagram Top 9!

Here’s how to create yours:

Top Nine seems to be the most popular and easiest to use app and the one I personally used since you don’t have to give the app your login credentials.

Download the app from the App Store. From there, the app will ask you for your Instagram username. Enter it and select “continue.” Next, the app will ask you for your email address. If you have a dedicated ‘junk’ email address, I would suggest using that one here. But I’ll tell you how to remove your email from their list below.

After you’ve entered your email address, the app will generate your Instagram top 9 grid inside the app and also email you a copy.

Inside the TOP NINE App your results will look like this… with your Instagram Top 9 as one image! Inside the app there will be a TOP NINE Watermark over top the image. It’s faint but it’s still there. The app will prompt you to Save Without Watermark but if you want to save this image without spending the $1.99 in app purchase keep reading. I’ll show you how I did this.

Here’s my simple TIP to get your Instagram Top 9 for free…. Open your TOP NINE Results email with the heading “You’re Instagram Top Nine is ready!” Click the green button “Download it now!” It will open a new webpage in Safari (using iPhone). The image of your Instagram Top 9 doesn’t show the watermark on this screen like the app does! Yay! Now here’s how to save it for free.

TO SAVE THIS IMAGE: SHARING TWO WAYS

#1 Screenshot your phone screen to save the image (Press and hold the Power button on the right side and click the Home button at the exact same time.) Then open the photo inside your Photos Library and crop the image as a square to get your Instagram Top 9 without paying to remove the watermark. 🙂 You’re welcome.

#2 Press your finger on the image until the Save Image screen pops up… then edit image in Photo Library as mentioned above.

One final piece of advice is that after you generate your Instagram Top 9, use Beta Labs’ “Forget Me” tool via this link. Beta Labs says using this tool will “delete all data associated” with your account and remove you from their email list. Easy Peasy!
