I want it ALL on my terms so tell me why that can’t happen? So many times we hear people speak that having a work life balance isn’t possible but “work-life integration” is the new norm. They say you can’t have it all at the same time.

I’ve got to disagree. As an entrepreneur who works hard at prioritizing my days I know I can have it all. It’s up to me when I quit working every day, how many priorities I set a week, how fast I scale, etc.

I want it ALL on my terms so tell me why that can't happen? So many times we hear people speak that having a work life balance isn't possible but “work-life integration” is the new norm. They say you can’t have it all at the same time.

What I believe balance means…

I read recently that a work life balance doesn’t have to mean that you are spending equal time with work and with family (which is increasingly hard to do). Instead, “balance” means you are a balanced, whole and healthy individual, with balanced, whole and healthy goals.

Many of my branding students want to grow their business but at the same time want to protect their boundaries around their family life.

And I totally get that. I too want to make a positive impact, build a career of significance, and be able to balance my work endeavors with my family and other passions.

To put it bluntly, my goal is to not have my work suck me dry and totally consume me to leave nothing left for my family.

My Tips For You…

One way I’ve been able to do this better is by leaning into the things I ABSOLUTELY love doing!  I don’t hate what I do. I love it!

That’s not all… I also must believe that everything will NOT happen right now, this month, or this year. But I DO need to have the right accountability in place so that I’m moving the needle in the right direction.

Lastly, I invest in the right mentors and coaches for me and my business so when I look back in five years I’m not in the same place I am today. I want to always be hitting milestones and getting closer to my big goals.

If I can offer any advice to you in this area it would be to find the right mentors to follow who are going where you want to go. Stop listening to the friend who you wouldn’t want to trade lives with.

In the end…

I can’t literally balance it all BUT I do love my people hard when I turn my office lights off for the day. And being fully transparent here… I may not spend as much time with them as I do my funnels, email list, or photoshop apps. But that doesn’t mean I love them less.

I know I have it all and you can too… If you think that having it all means working 24/7 to build your business while also being engaged full-time in parenting, then no…of course, you can’t have it all AT ONE TIME.

Nada… not gonna happen.

On the other hand, if you can think of having it all as building a life of significance – planting the seeds for your future visions and future self – honoring what matters to you, while also being present, involved and engaged with your family and friends (and outside life) in ways that are gratifying and fulfilling FOR YOU, then you can have it all.

Yes, totally can happen. 🙋

A simple mindset shift, a grateful heart, an accountability system, a good coach… all of these can help you too with your work life balance!
