We’re seeing now more than ever that it’s so important for us to use our voice, share our stories, and learn from each other. There’s no better lessons than from real-life experiences and real-life lessons.

That’s because the stories we tell are based on things that actually happened. They do not come from a textbook. You can’t make them up. Our stories can bring confidence to so many when we share the good, the bad and the ugly.

But before you can you tell your story, you first must find and use your voice. Standing up for yourself and standing up for what matters and then sharing your stories can inspire others to do the same.

For example, I recently shared our basketball story. One that’s been full of ups and downs over the past 15 years. I pull from all of my experiences in order to help inspire others. Without sharing my voice – my story won’t create empathy… because empathy can create caring and caring can motivate action.

I know by sharing my story over and over again with basketball and with my career, I motivate action in others to make a change in their life or stand strong on one they’ve already made.

Our voices matter. Our stories matter.

I also believe everyone needs to stand up and be heard. Share your own story. Because the more you do, the more others understand you and your true intentions in life. There will be no ignorant assumptions made about your actions. Every one has a voice and every voice has value.

I love what Oprah spoke during that now-famous Golden Globes speech how standing up and sharing personal stories can have a larger impact. She said,

“What I know for sure is that speaking your truth is the most powerful tool we all have. And I’m especially proud and inspired by all the women who have felt strong enough and empowered enough to speak up and share their personal stories.”

You don’t need a big platform to make an impact on others.

We have the largest public platform in front of us right now … social media.

So whether you want to share your story about the workplace, your heart, your journey, your family, your health, your faith, your finances, your brand…. SHARE IT! Share who you really are and stand up for what you believe in and the dreams and aspirations you have because people are listening and watching you and they will tell you how thankful they are of you for sharing over and over again.

Lead with generosity and share your stories. How will you share your story today, and be a role model for others?

Never forget the golden rule of building a successful personal brand … authenticity rules.
